What we collect, and when
We only hold information you choose to send us through one of the forms on this site.
Enquiry form
The form on our contact page asks for your name, email address, phone number, a subject and your message. We use it to answer you.
Program enquiries and applications
Each program page carries a short enquiry form and an application form. Between them they collect your name, email address, phone number, organisation, preferred start date and whatever you write in the message, along with the program you were reading. We use this to reply and to process your application.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address in order to send you the newsletter. You can ask us to remove it at any time and we will.
Certificate verification
Our certificate checker is open to anyone and asks for nothing about you — only a certificate number. We record how many times each certificate has been looked up, and when it was last looked up, so that we can spot unusual activity. We do not record who performed the check.
The register behind it holds the credentials we have awarded: the holder's name, the program, the dates and the grade. Anyone holding a certificate number can see those details, because that is what makes a credential verifiable. The holder's email address and our internal notes are never shown, and the register cannot be searched by name or listed — a valid number is the only way in.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages people visit and which forms they complete. It sets cookies and collects a truncated IP address, device and browser information. We do not send it your name, email address or any other detail you type into a form. If you would rather not be measured, most browsers offer a “do not track” setting, and Google publishes a browser opt-out.
Who else handles it
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. It passes through these services because the site runs on them:
- Vercel — hosting, and storage for images uploaded by our team.
- MongoDB Atlas — the database that holds form submissions and the certificate register.
- Google Analytics — usage measurement, as described above.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and applications are kept while we are dealing with them and for as long as we may reasonably need them afterwards. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Certificate records are kept indefinitely — a credential has to remain verifiable long after it was awarded, which is the point of issuing one.
Your choices
Write to info@californiaba.com and you can ask us to send you a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Depending on where you live you may have a formal right to these; we will honour the request either way. We will not ask you to explain why.
One limitation worth stating plainly: we cannot delete a certificate record on request without destroying the thing that makes the credential checkable. If you want a certificate withdrawn, that is a different request and we will discuss it with you.
Changes
If we add a form, a service or a use that this page does not describe, we will update it and change the date at the top.
This policy describes how the website behaves. It is not legal advice, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer — if you need it to satisfy a specific regime such as GDPR or CCPA, have counsel check it against your actual practices first.
